Acorn Prostitution Drama
I am sure you’ve all heard about Acorn helping prostitutes collect tax money. Am I the only human being on earth that doesn’t think this is a bad thing? I’ve always thought that prostitution was such a strange thing to be illegal, anyway. I also don’t understand the stigma against it. If you want to sell your no-no parts for monetary gain, why the fuck shouldn’t you be able to? In that same breath, I hate seeing cops go undercover as prostitutes and bust dozens of homely looking men around a city. For one, if a cop is posing as a prostitute, why is that not illegal? And two, if a person is desperate enough to pay for sex from a complete stranger that probably isn’t all that attractive in the first place, does it really make a lot of sense to arrest and potentially ruin the person’s life? Isn’t that counter-productive? I think our entire world would be much better off if all these taboos on sex were lifted from our collective spirit.
I have always wondered the same thing. The only sensible reason I can even conceive of for prostitution to be illegal is the disease aspect of it. That is the worst reason, though, because legalized prostitution would mean regulated prostitution that would require STD testing. The real reason, I am sure, is the “taboos on sex” that you mentioned above. It saddens me how much this country is still governed by religious or religious like beliefs, when freedom of religion is our first and most important right as an American.
